South Wind Motel

What a lovely little place this is! I needed to be in Columbus for a few nights while my dog had surgery nearby, and they were so accommodating when I needed to add another night at the last minute. I really enjoyed my homey little room, and despite being a woman traveling solo, I felt perfectly safe on the ground floor. All of the sustainable practices are wonderful, and so are the little personal touches that make this much more than just a motel. I stayed at a chain that rhymes with the Shmilton during my last trip, and I wish I'd known about South Wind before then. I'll never stay anywhere else on any future trips to Columbus!

Great place. Don’t think I’ve stayed in a classic ‘motel’ in years, but really enjoyed the throwback experience. Rooms are spacious and very, very clean. Well appointed in terms of toiletries, coffee, rocking chairs, etc. Great location. Would definitely stay here again.

I had a gig with NC bands at a local Columbus venue and needed to stay for a night. I was concerned about staying anywhere near downtown Columbus do to thieves breaking windows out of vehicles at several hotels around the area. South Winds Motel was the only place I didn't read a review about this happening. I decided to call before I left Pittsburgh to see about a room or 2 and Candace checked for me. She was very helpful and made me feel more confident about staying there after the gig. She checked me in late after the show. The parking lot was well lit,security cameras, and a security vehicle in the lot. I had no problems. Room was clean and I could keep an eye on my truck parked rite outside. Props to Candace for helping me out so much in a pinch. I feel I have a decent place to stay in Columbus for the next bands tour. Thank you Candace.

Lovely place, never wanted to leave Clean, spacious, attention to detail. lovely walkable city. Adored the vinyls. Water was hot. The chemex coffee provided was perfect. Tried Law Bird’s cocktail bar and emmett’s coffee shop as per their recommendation, just a quick walk down the road and amazing beverages at both. Quick drive to pretty much anywhere you’d like to go in the area.

I chose South Wind Motel when my daughter and I went to see Paul McCartney at the arena. It was the perfect location. The vibe of the mid-century modern room was lovely for getting us in the mood to see Sir Paul! Everything with our room was very clean and cozy. The drinking water was delicious! My daughter loved the toiletries, and will be ordering the shampoo! South Wind had curated a great list of walking distance dining, things to do, and shopping, which we wished we would have given ourselves more time to check out. This only means we will be coming back to Columbus, and staying at South Wind again!

We've stayed in Columbus many times, but this was, hands down, our favorite spot!! The room was cute, clean, and comfy. Contactless check in and out was a bonus! We loved being able to park our car right in front of our door unlike big hotels, and it was included in the room rate! The set up of this cute little place is great! I enjoyed the pour over coffee - so much better than k-cups! I even texted to ask for more coffee and got an immediate response to where I could find some. The key-coded office had everything you could think of if you forgot anything and I used the microwave a time or two when my coffee got cold. The location in German village was also great - lots of food and drinks nearby, a straight shot into downtown, and a painless uber ride to other places we needed to go! I travel a lot and this little motel has it going on!

Truly a wonderful stay! Right next to some really great restaurants in the area we barely had to drive anywhere because there was already so much to visit and do. It was a 17 minute walk from the wedding venue we were attending so it made it easy to get there. Any questions I had about my stay were answered promptly with consideration for whatever anxieties I have. The room was lovely and I really enjoyed the tea selection and coffee available. Very affordable, very clean, super comfortable and very easy to access. Lots of stars

My husband and I had a wedding in Columbus but wanted to stay close to German Village so we could spend some time at the Book Loft. South Wind Motel was the perfect combination of price, location, and amenities. The coffee was delicious, the soap smelled amazing, and we were able to use the smart tv to watch our favorite show. We will absolutely consider staying here again if we ever need to be near Columbus.

The room was exactly like the photos! So cute and well thought out with great touches here and there. Loved the overall mid-century look. Check in and out process was easy and smooth. Great location near bars and restaurants, too. Would absolutely stay here again!

I love staying at the Southwind Motel. The location - easy from the expressway, the access through a code texted before arrival, the lovely rooms, all make for an enjoyable experience. It is also close to German Village, which offers wonderful eating options. Southwind motel gets a thumbs up from me!
